Enkladius is the seventh planet in the Szon system and the first of the gas giants. It is the largest of the gas giants at two jovian masses, though the planet Lykodyrr, which is a brown dwarf, surpasses Enkladius in both mass and diameter. It has over one hundred moons, though most of them have yet to be exploited due to Enkladius's radiation and gravity wells. However, Enkladius is famous for its large rings which were formed from debris and other objects continuously falling below the planet's Roche limit.
Naming
Enkladius was known by ancient Vaikan and was named after one of the great pagan god-kings, Enkladius. The god Enkladius was known for having many wives which each of the moons are named after. His last wife, Amath whom the largest moon is named after, would later kill Enkladius and become the queen.
Physical characteristics
Like most gas giants, Enkladius has a single rocky core and an enormous atmosphere. Enkladius's atmosphere mostly consists of hydrogen and helium with unusual amounts of krypton. As a result, the planet appears a silvery, grey color. The planet also has an enormous storm, known as the Great Dark Spot, which is a turbulent, unending storm that has lasted for at least 300 years. This storm is several times the size of Ucharpli and will most likely remain a permanent feature on the planet.
Enkladius is surrounded by a radiation belt that can destroys the electronics of unprotected crafts. Because of this, the planet's moons have yet to be significantly exploited despite their numerous amounts. More complex facilities have been built on Heszton instead, though Enkladius still remains of scientific interest.
Enkladius played a crucial role in the formation of life on Szon's habitable planets. Enkladius would capture oversized asteroids as well as displace the orbits of comets. The planet also prevented Zarenutha from forming into a much larger planet which would have erased the asteroid belt.
Moons
Most of Enkladius's moons are either captured asteroids or the remains of much larger moons that fell below Enkladius's Roche limit. The larger moons would be shredded apart into numerous smaller ones. The shredding of these moons eventually formed an enormous ring system around the planet.
The majority of Enkladius's moons range anywhere from one kilometer long to just over 5,000 kilometers. Enkladius's largest moon, Amath, is 5,433 kilometers in diameter and is covered in one gigantic ice sheet of carbon dioxide.
As the gas giant constantly changes in its number of moons, no designated number of moons has been placed. However, at any given time, Enkladius will always have more than 100 moons.
Economy
Enkladius is unfavorable for mining due to its radiation. However, it still serves as a secondary source of helium-3 to Heszton.
