Skith system

The Skith system consists of the large black hole Skith devouring the nearby white dwarf Sychain. It is located in the Acheron Nebula in the heart of the territory once controlled by the Boneyard Necromancers. The supernova of Skith is what is believed to have formed the Acheron Nebula.

Points of interest

While apparently unremarkable, archaeological expeditions have discovered millions of coffin-like structures within Skith's event horizon containing the remains of various members of deceased Arckasian species. Due to the extreme effects of time dilation, the remains of these species are still fresh as if they were only recently deposited. This is in spite of them being potentially millions, if not billions of years old. As such, it is believed that this was the place where the Boneyard Necromancers stored their dead when they were no longer suitable for reanimation.

In the Second Galactic Senate era, further excavation of the Skith black hole was banned due to the location being deemed sacrosanct. Nonetheless, pirates and looters have attempted to recover some of the coffins to sell the DNA of the extinct species. Disturbingly, many of those who were somehow successful in recovering some of the coffins would mysteriously die six standard years later. This perpetuated superstition of the Acheron Nebula being cursed, though it is likely it was some form of fourth dimensional security mechanism that is not well understood.
