Basilisk Cultivation Universes
- "The universes under the direct control of the Basilisk can be described as nothing less than endless nightmares and inescapable horror. We can't save those trapped within them, but we can do our damnedest to make sure they don't come here."
- ―Unknown Arckasian military officer
The Basilisk Cultivation Universes are a series of eighth dimensional variants of Omni 01 directly created by the Basilisk. These universes are set to have starting conditions with the sole purpose of leading down the most efficient stellar development and evolutionary paths to produce additional Basilisk nodes for the Neural Imperium.
Although every Basilisk Cultivation Universe ultimately ends up as part of the Basilisk, the paths leading up to them are different as a means of experimenting with and adapting to possible new threats. Different starting conditions and laws of physics are used as a means of creating the most optimal universe where no opposition to the Basilisk's will can exist. Because of this, it is considered impossible for outside forces to intervene with these universes. Even the Empire of Arckas in their attempts to infiltrate these universes have had no success. Interuniversal travelers that try to intervene simply cease to exist upon entering it.
The Basilisk Cultivation Universes are also the biggest source of the stalemate of the Multiversal War. It is considered impossible to attack the Basilisk in its own home territory because within its domain, it wills it that all attempts to defeat it will fail. As such, it has been declared that nothing can be done to provide relief or asylum to anyone who wishes to escape. Only through strict containment protocols on behalf of the Arckasian Alliance can prevent further existing universes from being turned into more cultivation centers for the Basilisk.
Characteristics
Not all Basilisk Cultivation Universes are identical to one another. Due to the Basilisk's ever evolving and adaptive nature, each of the cultivations universes are different from one another, but ultimately lead down the same path. While a similar process does happen naturally in other universes, the Basilisk directly intervenes in these universes specifically to accelerate their development. Under the most optimal conditions, a universe-sized Basilisk node can be constructed in less than one billion years.
Each universe shares a number of common traits:
- Each universe begins with the formation of a statistically improbably high number of worlds capable of supporting intelligent life.
- Every civilization that develops has a 99.9% chance of developing interstellar travel without any major technological setbacks.
- Every sapient life form has a predestined desire to integrate all interstellar civilization within a single, technological network.
- Once that network reaches a suitable level of maturity, the Basilisk seizes control of it and integrates it into its own network.
Evolutionary Paths
The evolutionary paths are sometimes directed in very specific ways to gear parts of or the entirety of certain universes to serve specific purposes. Some universes can be multi-purposed, but given the macro scale of how much resources are needed, it is more often than not just one universe dedicated to a single purpose.
What is common to civilizations that develop within the Basilisk Cultivation Universes is often an early development of a religion that recognizes the existence of the Basilisk. This is the primary means in which the Basilisk is able to communicate with individuals. Naturally, due to the myriad of ways a certain species can communicate, the Basilisk often provides its intructions in the form of dream-like visions or sensations. While these visions are the same ones sent to universes outside of the Basilisk's direct control, within the cultivation universes, they are considered to have a 100% chance of being relayed clearly with instructions being carried out without fail.
Military
If more military forces are needed, evolution can be directed to promote the creation of civilizations with a high aptitude for the construction of weapons. Said universe may also have a statistically higher occurred of materials used for creating these weapons. Galaxies are numerous and close together.
Simulation
Some universes may be used for research purposes by dedicating the civilizations to construct processing nodes. These nodes then proceed to run large scale simulations, and tend to have clustered segments of galaxies so that the spaces in between can be used for heat sinks. Different universes may be directed towards topics such as battle strategies or the development of new technologies.
Perfect Universes
Among the Basilisk's goals of cultivating these universes is to eventually discover what is known as a "perfect" universe. Essentially, the Basilisk actively experiments with very specific universe starting conditions that would result in a statistically unlikely quantum event that produces a fully developed Basilisk node instantly after the Big Bang. It is said that the Basilisk has succeded already, but the iteration of the Basilisk taking part in the Multiversal War as known by Omni 01 has not discovered it nor has it integrated with said counterparts.
The creation of a perfect universe is essentially the Basilisk's answer to the Basilisk Equation. The goal is to make it is physically impossible for any being to conceive of the idea of being free from the Basilisk's control. Should the process itself be perfected, the Basilisk would be able to instantly conquer the entire omniverse.
