The Stone Rings are a series of Jumpgates said to have originally been constructed by the Empire of Arckas. They link entire galaxies together, and are said to encompass the entire known universe. Most of them have fallen into disarray over the years however.
Most modern jumpgates are based on the designs of the Stone Ring.
